Castle’s Garden
To celebrate the Princess’ birthday, the King wants to redecorate the castles’ garden. He plans to have 9 square flowerbeds, 4 alleys that cross the garden and grass all around. The gardener measured the garden and found out that its shape is a square with all sides of 50 m long, but he is not good at calculations. The King wants the alleys to be 1 m wide and the Princess wants her flowerbeds to have the sides of 3m long.
Help the gardener to find out what surface will be planted with grass and how much will the King pay for the grass seeds if 1kg costs 4 Euros and it covers 12 m2 of garden. To help you in your calculations, the gardener drew the garden’s plan:
